Thanks for your recent edits! I'm Jimbo, your robot wiki representative! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is actually a great time to have joined, because we're now fully independent, and working on a host of new features!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a fan written wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.

British English, please

We generally use British English 'round these parts, so if you use another form of English, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.

Spoilers aren't cool

We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.

Other useful stuff

Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! —  you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

Hey![[edit source]]

Hey, haven't seen you around for a while! Dr. Anonymous1 17:42, September 8, 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, I've been busy over the summer, and now that college has started up again, I still don't have much time to devote to this. But now that Doctor Who has come back (at least for the next month or so), I'll be here at least marginally. --Bold Clone 17:44, September 8, 2012 (UTC)

Death[[edit source]]

Regeneration is death. It's a way of cheating death, but it is death. The body dies and then new cells grow in it's place. but death happen first. When the Fifth Doctor dies and then becomes the Sixth, he dies. It is the same thing. Sorry to take such a depressing take on all of it, but regeneration is death. And "Death" is a much better header than "Regeneration", particuarly as every Doctor regenerated twice in his life. OS25 (talk to me, baby.) 01:44, February 18, 2013 (UTC)

Besides that point, the Doctor only changes when he dies. Regeneration is a way to avoid death, but only by means of rejuvenation. When the Seventh Doctor was killed in that hopsital he died. Then he regenerated. OS25 (talk to me, baby.) 03:15, February 18, 2013 (UTC)
No, he became a stiff. He died. The word "death" has been used multiple time in regeneration stories; including The Caves of Androzani. Regeneration is the process of being reborn after death. OS25 (talk to me, baby.) 04:04, February 18, 2013 (UTC)
As the Tenth Doctor said in The End of Time, "Even if I change, it feels like dying. Everything I am dies. Some new man goes sauntering away...and I'm dead." Even if he just changes and goes on, it's still death in a way. Everything I am dies. The Tenth Doctor, by definition, is now dead. Now we have the Eleventh. But the Tenth is still dead. OS25 (talk to me, baby.) 04:33, February 18, 2013 (UTC)
The proplem here is that every Doctor has two regenerations. Putting a section called "Regeneration" on the Tenth Doctor's page, for example, could refer to either Parting of The Ways or The End of Time. And the death sections on the the Third Doctor's page are a must-keep. OS25 (talk to me, baby.) 05:07, February 18, 2013 (UTC)

No, no it wouldn't. Sorry to be so nnegative, but "Death" is frankly more interesting and accurate than "Regeneration", and if a fan truly doesn't understand that regeneration is coming back after death than that's not our proplem. We shouldn't structure pages off of the ideals of new fans; if we did we'd be wiping all pre-2005 info off the map. "Death" is a better and less confusing header than "Regeneration". OS25 (talk to me, baby.) 05:44, February 18, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, a forum discussion is best for this one; over wheather the Doctor dies and is ressurected or if he simply "changes". Czech would prop def pull out some sources from books and we could come to a consensus. OS25 (talk to me, baby.) 22:09, February 18, 2013 (UTC)
Might as well move it to the forum. Make the question over whether regeneration is "changing-pre-death" or "rejuvination-post-death". I feel like Czech can get us some quick sources. OS25 (talk to me, baby.) 19:35, February 19, 2013 (UTC)

Spoiler question[[edit source]]

Yours is a good question. I had to hunt about on the spoiler policy page before I could find any mention of story titles. I finally found it under "Official Info", where it says, "What, then, do we do with information that comes from a reputable source like the BBC itself? We use it only on the series page. It cannot be used elsewhere. The three biggest types of "official" info are story titles, casting information, and the odd leak of in-universe information."

So under normal circumstances, an upcoming story title can go on the related series page. It's just that the 50th anniversary special and the Christmas special are not considered part of series 7 or 8, so there is no place to list their titles before their releases (except of course at the Howling).

Hope that answers your question! Shambala108 20:44, December 20, 2013 (UTC)

Not sure it's quite as hard to find as Shambala makes out. It's covered at T:SPOIL DEF, which defines a spoiler as "any information about an unbroadcast or unreleased story". A title would be part of "any information".

Christmas cheer[[edit source]]

Happy holidays!

As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.

This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!

We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.

2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!

I hope I didn't make a mistake with the external link. I can only open one page at a time on my computer, so I have to read, close, and go back and work. If I am in error I will do my best not to repeat it.

Re:Quick question[[edit source]]

Hi! I've added a response to your and User:Mewiet's discussion at my talk page. Thanks! Shambala108 14:23, July 12, 2014 (UTC)

In order to stop Shambala getting pinged every single time one of you responds, I've moved the matter to the neutral ground of Thread:158757.

The Gift[[edit source]]

Per T:BOUND, just because you disagree with policy, doesn't mean you can ignore it. You can't simply declare it "invalid". As such I'm going to be enforcing Thread:149557 on the relevant pages, and if you would like to change policy, you can bring it up at Board:The Panopticon. Page moves[[edit source]]

Hi! Please note that, per Thread:128198, only admins are allowed to move pages. By moving Pond Life (webcast) to Pond Life (TV story), you've left behind a redirect that will take some time to clean up. In the future, if something needs to be renamed/moved, please just add a rename tag. Thanks! Shambala108 02:05, September 15, 2015 (UTC)

Re: Prologue[[edit source]]

Hi! I don't know the answer to your question (I haven't even seen the story yet), but I will start a forum page to see what other users can tell us. Shambala108 02:37, September 18, 2015 (UTC)
