Skip
Hey did anyone else notice a little jump or skip at exactly 18:21? Maybe it's just my version of the episode but it seems deliberate, there's even what sounds like a spooky music cue exactly after it happens. Given the powers of the Silence, and the time skips we saw in "The Lodger" I think it's possible this could be on purpose. Can anyone confirm/deny whether or not there's an actual skip in the episode? FixtheFernback 23:19, April 23, 2011 (UTC)

Pregnacy
So shouldn't the fact that amy is pregnant be added to continuty also amy remembering the previous times she saw the aliens isnt a production error it's clearly delibrate possibly from her pregnacy (if it isnt rory's and if that's true 47 MORE YEARS!)

Continuity - River Song
On the Page it says:

"River Song suggests in this episode that her and the Doctor are not meeting in random order, as has been implied before, but are actually meeting in the opposite order. This has been true so far, as every episode she has been in has been earlier in her timeline than the one before it"

I think it's necessary to add clearly, that her statement only applies to the on-screen events, but not to the off-screen events that are mentioned in the story. If they always met in the opposite order, which means that one always is older and remembers thing while the other one keeps getting younger and does not know any of the events, there could be none commom memories.

The Doctor: Library, Angels, Pandorica, Astronaut (909)-Astronaut (1,103)

River Song: Astronaut(1,103-then 909), Pandorica, Angels, Library (Death)

I think this is the order in which they experience the meetings so far (on-screen). But we have to add the mentioned offscreen events "Easter Island and Jim the Fish". At their first meeting in the Impossible Astronaut they both have entries in their diaries that mention those events. Therefore they had to meet off-screen, when the doctor was between the age of 909 an 1,103 and River was younger than in this story. Afterwards they both aged and met again in the Impossible Astronaut. They both remember these events so they have to happen in a the order "Easter Island and Jim the Fish" and then the Astronaut for River and the Doctor. It is obvious, that this is not the oppositional order but the same direction they went in their timelines. This only happend because of the meeting with the older version of the doctor. With the younger one (909) River's statement is in conformity. Hope it's understandable what I mean.95.208.116.246 13:31, April 24, 2011 (UTC)

* However, in this episode, River has the vortex manipulator she would have received after Pandorica/Big Bang. By Angels/Flesh, she no longer has the manipulator, leading me to believe it goes Pandorica/Big Bang, Astronaut/Moon, Angels/Flesh, Library/Forest. See River's Talk page for my explanation in full. --Witoki 14:19, April 24, 2011 (UTC)
** In this case her statement would be wrong, too. I assumend that it applies at least to the on-screen story. But if you're right (and I don't argue about that, since it's not my point), my whole explanation about the off-screen thing wouldn't be necessary to show that her statement ist wrong as the both would have Pandorica/Big Bang as a common event (which shouldn't exist according to an oppositional order).95.208.116.246 14:44, April 24, 2011 (UTC)
** If they always met in exactly opposite orders, then the Diary would serve no point. She meant in general that their meetings are all off. Plus, the Doctor meets River and takes her to the Opera just before Library as well, meaning that they eventually start meeting in a stable order towards the end of her life.

Continuty-Three Knocks
Shouldn't it be added that the doctor was shot three times (knocks)?
*The prophecy was four knocks, not three, and it already came true in The End of Time.
I just watched the scene back, and the third shot doesn't seem to come from the astronaut, but comes from the right, so maybe someone is shooting, the silent perhaps?... also, i found it strange there just happened to be a boat docked in the lake, maybe the Doctor sailed away? == Why wait with the final shot? ==

The Astronaut shot the doctor twice, and then the third time when the doctor started to expell energy from his arms and head. My question is, why did the astronaut wait untill the doctor was in that state, he could just have shot him when the doctors hand started to glow.

I also found it abit odd that when the doctor was shot the last time that there was some sort of a shockwave that came from him. You could see it ripple on the water.

I thimk it might be a staser to stop him regenerating maybe they can only do it WHILE he was changing

: I don't believe it was any special type of laser gun (or whatever they are called), but it has been explored before during the Tennant Era that the Doctor can be killed before regeneration, much like the Master's 'death' in "Last of the Time Lords". I think it was also mentioned in "The End of Time, Part 2". == World War II? ==
When Amy is in the restroom and talks with the Silent, she recalls seeing it at the lake and said "and then I forgot", a line spoken by Donna while inside the computer in Forest of the Dead. When I heard it, I tought the stories were linked... but I was wrong. Still, is it worth mentionning in the continuity? Dr Moon's hability to erase memory.

Did this show take place in World War II?  It is listed as the first setting in the info box. Should it be there?  If so, shouldn't England be listed as a setting as well?  -- Rest In Peace Sarah Jane \ Talk to me! 15:52, April 25, 2011 (UTC)

Continuity
Should the astronaut really be listed as an enemy? In the 60s, she didn't do anything even remotely malicious, and in 2011 she wasn't in control of her actions, didn't kill the real Doctor, and did exactly what the Doctor wanted her to do.Icecreamdif talk to me 07:34, December 4, 2011 (UTC)

It seems likely that the doctor's "I'm sorry" when he is dying is a reference to Tennants tenth doctor. Unfortunately, as an anon, I can't edit. 77.248.138.31 19:40, April 25, 2011 (UTC)
<p style="margin-left: 40px; ">The astronaut could, and probably should, refer to the suit rather than its occupant. Either way, the suit poses a credible threat during both parts of this story and deserves crediting as an enemy. BenPaddon talk to me 07:42, December 4, 2011 (UTC)</p>

*I don't think its a reference to the 10th Doctor. Lot's of people say "I'm sorry" and while the 10th is known for his over-use of it, the doctor saying it in this situation doesn't seem like a reference at all, especially since the 10th didn't say "I'm sorry" while regenerating. Rawrgoaway 20:18, April 25, 2011 (UTC)
River as a child
*It could also point to River in the exploding Tardis during the Pandorica/Big Bang episodes: she says repeatedly, "I'm sorry, my love." Those words were what the Doctor, Rory and Amy heard over and over again by pointing the modified satellite dish at the "sun" in Big Bang, so the Doctor has heard River say those words repeatedly.
*Posts should be signed :\ and again, i still think it isn't a reference to anything. I think it's meaning has something to do with something that has yet to happen. The Doctor is apologizing for something that happened to whoever is in the suit. Also, "I'm sorry" is pretty common to say, and i don't see any reason why the doctor would say that just because he overheard River saying it. It seems pretty far fetched to be a reference to a past saying of "I'm Sorry". Rawrgoaway 07:21, May 31, 2011 (UTC)

There is no Boom Mike error.
It is someone behind him walking down the hall. You can only see the top of the persons head. Watch it carefully, it has the walking gait of a human. Additionally, boom mikes are usually not behind the person speaking beneath shoulder level. They do not work that way.
Voiceover
*Well it's certainly an error. It's not a person. It hovers there for a few seconds. And nobody else is in the hallway. --The Thirteenth Doctor 21:47, April 25, 2011 (UTC)

Shouldn't the Immpossible astronaut (or spaceman whatever it's called) be listed as an enemy since they did kill the doctor. Also is it being called spaceman a nod to donna's nickname for the tenth doctor?

Amy's Book
Archiveedit source

For some reason, the archive for this talk page isn't appearing, so here's a link to it: Talk:The Impossible Astronaut/Archive 1. Shambala108 20:57, February 29, 2020 (UTC)

The problem with the archive was the lack of the dab term in the Archive's name; it's now fixed, and the archive page is showing up. OncomingStorm12th (talk) 22:29, February 29, 2020 (UTC)
Well there we go. I (and other admins) have had so many problems with trying to archive these pages that I didn't look too far for the solution. Thanks Shambala108 22:40, February 29, 2020 (UTC)

Silence in 2011edit source

I was watching it again a few days ago and realised the first time Amy sees a Silence is in 2011. And the Doctor doesn't seem surprised that she sees it. Should this be noted somewhere in the Notes, or is this not appropriate on this page?

Lmb02 03:01, August 15, 2011 (UTC)

Probably not worth mentioning. Perhaps he doesn't seem surprised because he doesn't see it, or if he has then he's forgotten about it. BenPaddon talk to me 07:41, December 4, 2011 (UTC)

lover and enemyedit source

could somebody change "impossible astronaut" so that it links ot the River Song page? Thanks!

"And then I forgot"edit source

When Amy is in the restroom and talks with the Silent, she recalls seeing it at the lake and said "and then I forgot", a line spoken by Donna while inside the computer in Forest of the Dead. When I heard it, I tought the stories were linked... but I was wrong. Still, is it worth mentionning in the continuity? Dr Moon's hability to erase memory.

Nope. They're entirely unrelated. BenPaddon talk to me 07:41, December 4, 2011 (UTC)

Enemyedit source

Should the astronaut really be listed as an enemy? In the 60s, she didn't do anything even remotely malicious, and in 2011 she wasn't in control of her actions, didn't kill the real Doctor, and did exactly what the Doctor wanted her to do.Icecreamdif talk to me 07:34, December 4, 2011 (UTC)

The astronaut could, and probably should, refer to the suit rather than its occupant. Either way, the suit poses a credible threat during both parts of this story and deserves crediting as an enemy. BenPaddon talk to me 07:42, December 4, 2011 (UTC)

River as a childedit source

The article states that rumor is false, but it is actually true. We do see and hear River as a child. Can somebody make that change? 214.13.69.132talk to me 08:21, February 15, 2012 (UTC)

Voiceoveredit source

Where the article states "The version supplied for broadcast in the United States, Australia, and Canada is the first episode of Doctor Who to have a voiceover introductory sequence before the main titles, with the voice of Amy explaining her relationship with the Doctor", isn't this wrong?

Wouldn't the first episode with a voice over be Rose's in Army of Ghosts??? Geek Mythology talk to me 17:13, June 29, 2012 (UTC)

I think it'd be a fine line.
This is the first to have a introductory voice over.
Rose's V/O in Army of Ghosts was more of a narrative point, one which I think was in the episode no matter where it was aired. --Tangerineduel / talk 17:17, June 29, 2012 (UTC)

Should we maybe change it to say it was the first episode to have a voiceover specifically added for international copies? --TemporalSpleen talk to me 17:20, June 29, 2012 (UTC)

That would make more sense to me. Geek Mythology talk to me 17:30, June 29, 2012 (UTC)

Americans' speaking UK Englishedit source

Could the Americans' speaking with British style talking be an example of the TARDIS's translation circuits? Seeing as the average viewer speaks in that manner and all the main characters do as well. Jnzooger 17:30, February 21, 2013 (UTC)

The TARDIS doesn't really translate for dialect/accent like that when they go to Scotland, so why would it for America? ComicBookGoddess 07:06, February 22, 2013 (UTC)

The Color of the infamous bow tieedit source

I'm pretty sure that the bow tie he's wearing to his death is the same one he's got in the rest of the episode, just viewed under a different light. (As a clue, it's not quite on par with the rolled up sleeves.) I'd rather somebody else agreed before changing it, though. ComicBookGoddess 00:37, March 2, 2013 (UTC)

Diner the same as Ashildr's/Me's Tardis in Season 9edit source

The diner where everyone met, including the n0n-aged 11th doctor, looks like the same diner that Ashildr and Clara Oswald attached to their Tardis in the 12th Doctor 9th season TV show, "Hell Bent." It is not known if there is a canon connection, but shouldn't this be listed in an incidental manner on this page? The preceding unsigned comment was added by Accessdpro (talk • contribs) .

Does the Doctor not mention that it looks familiar in Hell Bent? CaptainKaibyo 15:58, 30 June 2023 (UTC)

Uncredited castedit source

 • Young Couple - Alexus Koors & Benjamin Wright
