A data ghost was the name given to a small cell that speaks and thinks after death by River Song and the rest of the archaeologists. They only occur once in a space suit where they talk through the speaker, The Doctor named them as a footprint on the beach with the tide coming in. (DW: Silence in the Library/ Forest of the Dead)
