He overheard Dr. Henderson talking about the Third Doctor's non-human blood samples. He called the Daily Chronicle offices and told the story to James Stevens. Afterwards, he was given the job of keeping the reporters out of the hospital, and was unable to tell a reporter the identity of Channing due to the fact that he didn't know himself.
