The Crimean War (1853-1856) was a conflict fought between the Russian Empire and the British Empire and its allies, including France.
Mollie Dawson's uncle was killed at the Battle of Inkerman in 1854. On 25 October of that year, a commonly known part of the War occurred called the "Charge of the Light Brigade," in which light-calvary were accidentally made to attack artillery and were killed outright.
