On 25 October of that year, a commonly known part of the War occurred called the "Charge of the Light Brigade," in which light-calvary were accidentally made to attack artillery and were killed outright. Agonal, disguised as an officer, actually caused this so he could feed on and enjoy the agony and death. (PROSE: Blood Harvest) The Doctor was present at the Charge of the Light Brigade. (TV: The Evil of the Daleks, AUDIO: The Angel of Scutari) The Doctor later claimed to have been wounded at the Crimea. (TV: The Sea Devils)

Hex worked with Florence Nightingale, treating the wounded at the Scutari field hospital. (AUDIO: The Angel of Scutari) Baron De Guerre also fought in the Crimean War. (PROSE: The Vampire of Paris)

On 11 November 1913, an elderly veteran of the Crimean War stood outside the entrance to the village hall in Farringham, Herefordshire where Joan Redfern and John Smith were attending a dance. Smith gave a donation to the Veterans of the Crimea, a charity for the by then aged survivors of the war. The veteran was later vapourised by Son of Mine. (TV: Human Nature)
