By [[The Bells of Saint John]], Clara was a student who was set to travel, but was hired as a nanny a week before the children she was looking after's mother died. As the Doctor remarked, Clara wasn't one of these people who ran away from the people she cared about, in contrast to the Doctor. Clara had a 101 places to go book, which she would have used to travel to places, but this was postponed. Clara wasn't computer-wise, until her soul was partially absorbed by the Great Intelligence and added computer talents package to her soul. When the Doctor unloaded Clara's soul, he also unloaded the package into Clara, giving her computer skills - skills that was above the standards. She could hack in the Strand's computer - this was something even the Doctor couldn't do.

Clara Oswald, judging by her name, appeared to be another version of the woman whom the Eleventh Doctor believed to be one and the same, along with Clara Oswin Oswald, Clara and Oswin Oswald. (TV: Asylum of the Daleks, The Snowmen)

During her childhood, her mother would tell her "not to speak to strange men." She found destiny to be "rubbish."

As a child, she'd always lose things: her "best pencil," her school bag, her gran and her mojo, which she got back. Whenever she would lose something, she'd go to a quiet place, close her eyes, then would find where she'd put it.

She once met the Eleventh Doctor in a park, while he was on his search for her, and advised him about finding his friend (seemingly not knowing that he was in fact looking for her). (WC: The Bells of Saint John: A Prequel)
