Spoiler is any piece of future information, about something or event that haven't happened yet. The phrase "spoiler" is used a lot in the dialogues between River Song and The Doctor, when one of them has details about the other's future life. For example, in TV: Let's Kill Hitler, when Mels regenerates into her next incarnation, a.k.a River Song, The Doctor, Amy and Rory keep saying this is River Song, but since she didn't know then who River Song is, she asks who River is, and the Doctor answers "Spoilers," but she didn't even knew the word "spoiler" then. In addition, in TV: The Impossible Astronaut, River has to tell the Doctor spoilers when he asks who sent them (and Amy and Rory) to America so as not to change the Doctor's future by having him know it was a future version of himself who asked them there.

Behind the Scenes

• The reference was an intentional jibe by writer Steven Moffat at fans who want to know details of forthcoming episodes of Doctor Who before they air.
• The first time the phrase "Spoiler" was said, was by River Song, in the first meeting with her, in TV: Silence in the Library.
