Weohstan was promised horses for winning a battle. He thought that Garundel was a monster. He was a fellow warrior with Beowulf. He was a wordsmith. He was creating the legend of Beowulf, whilst he was alive. He gave Garundel the gold he needed to fix his ship. He didn't trust Ace.
