Hello to everyone.
I'm an admin, so any problems or questions that are vexing chuck them on My talk page, if I can't help I'll try and point you in a direction which can.
I've been fan for a long while, and this wiki lets me indulge in a slightly obsessive passion.
I can get a bit obsessive and methodical and usually start with one page in a line (of novels/audios/TV stories) and then focus on one portion of it (like the external links or the images), go through a long line and fix just that, and then go and fix the rest. (Which is why the Virgin New Adventures, BBC Eighth Doctor Adventures, Virgin Bernice Summerfield New Adventures and the Big Finish - Bernice Summerfield Series have a hand or two of mine in their (individual page) creation/major work.
I've also been working to make sure that any novels, audios and TV shows all conform to the Manual of Style.
Favourite Additions
- One of my favourite recent additions is The Doctor Who Cookbook which is actually sitting on my shelf, one of the oddest pieces of Doctor Who publishing...with some quite good recipes.
- The Alcohol, Tea, and Coffee pages which I'm also quite happy with (and all the useless knowledge they bring).
- Also I'm quite pleased with The Dark Dimension, mainly because it's all accurately researched with proper citing of sources and all that jazz. I've gone to some lengths to research Black Sheep (who produced the covers for all the BBC's EDA and PDA novels and I's quite happy with the various authors opinions on that article.
- I've just found another article that I'd forgotten about, Teleportaphobia, this I like just for the information it has, it brings a whole new light to all the matter transmitting that goes on throughout Doctor Who.
Other recent work
I have finally finished updating all the classic series from the standard TV infobox to the ClssicTV infobox, plus clearing up all the articles (from An Unearthly Child to the TVM) to the manual of style, adding in all various links, making sure they're all arranged in the correct and same order, sorting out references and continuity from one another. But it's finally finished!
- I will at some point soon go back over Series 1 (Doctor Who) to Series 4 checking over everything again, plus Torchwood as well.
Recent Work - Additional
Added all licensing tags to the MediaWiki:Licenses, which is used on the drop down license menu when you upload images, so hopefully no more looking through Tardis:Copyright tags page for them. Previously there were just the default ones, most of which didn't exist. But now it's all fixed.
What I'm currently mucking around with
- Have become motivated (off the back of finishing my now finished work on the TV pages and infoboxes, and not quite ready to go through the new series again) to continue with the DWMs despite the sizeable amount of typing needed for each article (usually around 2,500 characters). Working on filling in the gaps between the issues I've already done.
I've also rewritten adding more relevant and up to date content to the Tardis:To Do List, which actually has existed since this wiki's foundation, but hadn't had any real additions since 2005.
- I just created an article I'm Gonna Spend My Christmas With A Dalek (building upon my odd articles) this and Who is Dr Who? are music related.
Other to do things, needing adding to various lists at a later date
Specific articles and pages
- Doctor Who Magazine comic strips, the specific pages on this page, several of them have the 'Published In' field in the infobox listing the publication as Doctor Who Monthly, only issues 44 through to 84 are known commonly as 'Doctor Who Monthly', (issues 1 to 43 are known as Doctor Who Weekly). Each of the comic strips on this page must be checked to be sure it conforms with the magazine it was in. There are additional comic strip stories listed in Category:Doctor Who Magazine comics stories also requiring checking.
Other Info
- I don't care that much about rumours, supposition or any wanderings on the net and elsewhere.
- Articles need to be written from actual sources, Rumours don't count as "sources".
- Supposition or 'stuff that will probably happen based on these sheep entrails' (or alternatively stuff that hasn't been released for general media consumption) doesn't count either.
- I'm no great fan of copying huge chunks from wikipedia, the point (as I see it) is to be creating something unique here, not just a copy of any given Wikipedia entry.
- I'm usually around a lot of the time, I'm also an admin.
Seemed like a good idea
- I wrote this and it seemed a good idea at the time, but a lot of the information is implied and some of it is sort of contradictory, so I'm chucking it here for now, I've got the nowikis in place just so there's not a lot of articles pointing to my page
Throughout the audio dramas and novels of the Faction Paradox (series) various pseudonyms and alternate names are used for planets, people, objects and other elements of the Doctor Who universe. This method has additionally been used in the past in several of the Virgin Bernice Summerfield New Adventures (mostly Dead Romance by Lawrence Miles) and many of those alternate names etc were carried through to the Faction Paradox series but were also fed from or adapted from Miles' other Doctor Who novels (Alien Bodies and Interference especially). This is a list to assist in deciphering many of the implied names used throughout the series. *Great Houses - Time Lords *Homeworld - Gallifrey :*Nine Homeworlds - Nine Gallifreys (first mentioned in EDA: Alien Bodies) *House Military - Were the Chancellery Guard *The Imperator - Morbius *Lesser species - Humans, Earth *Timeships - TARDISes *The Celestis (First seen in EDA: Alien Bodies) are explained in that novel as the future of the Celestial Intervention Agency ==Other implied names== *Yssgaroth - May be the Great Vampires *Grandfather Halfling - Is implied to be the Doctor. (FP: Of the City of the Saved)
