The Milice were the paramilitary arm of the Vichy government in World War II (southern) France. They were, essentially, the "French Gestapo".
The Second Doctor, Ben Jackson, Polly Wright, Jamie McCrimmon and several members of the French Resistance had to be extremely wary of the Milice when travelling in France in February 1944. (AUDIO: Resistance)
