French Resistance

The French Resistance was an organisation that fought against the Nazi occupation of France during World War II.

History[[edit] | [edit source]]

The French Resistance was formed following the surrender of France in the face of Nazi Germany's Blitzkrieg in 1940. (PROSE: Timewyrm: Exodus) The Resistance opposed the occupiers, as well as the Vichy government, the puppet regime set up by the Germans in Vichy in southern France, (AUDIO: Resistance) led by Marshal Pétain. While trying to repair his TARDIS during his Earth exile, the Third Doctor was sent to Nazi-occupied Paris. He enlisted the aid of the Reynard Resistance Group to retrieve the TARDIS console so he could return to his original timezone. (COMIC: Who is the Stranger)

Marcel Sangenez was the leader of a French Resistance group that rescued the Third Doctor (who had been accidentally transported back in time), Professor Pierre Vedrun and his daughter, Monique Vedrun, from their German captors. (COMIC: Timebenders)

Throughout the first half of 1944, Lucien began hunting down Germans and French collaborators with the help of the Furio. He became known as a local hero, but he continued his mission into July even as the Allies fought to liberate France. He eventually turned himself in to British custody after the Sixth Doctor and Constance Clarke convinced him to release the Furio and give up his lust for revenge. (AUDIO: Scorched Earth)

Later that year, the Allies finally liberated Paris. (COMIC: Trust)
