Olaf Eriksson was an 11th century Norseman. King Sitric Silkbeard sent him to the Abbey of Kells in 1006. The king wanted Olaf to enlist the help of Brother Bernard, the chief librarian at the Abbey, in protecting the Book of Kells from Brian Boru, who sought to use it to help gain the throne of Dublin.
