In 989, the Viking Sitric Silkbeard became King of Dublin. Following the first Leinster Revolt in 1000, however, his position was undermined by the political machinations of the Irish-born King Brian Boru of Munster. In 1769, the future Duke of Wellington was born in Dublin to an influential, if hard-up, aristocratic Anglo-Irish family. His name was Wesley – the Honourable Arthur Wesley, to be precise. On 16 November 1996, the famous girl group the Blood Honeys "spontaneously" came together in their first performance at the Tripod nightclub on Harcourt Street. Nineteen-year-old Donna Noble, in the city for a hen night, was unsuccessful at persuading her friends to go to Tripod as the club had been holding a pop music night, thus missing the event.
When Donna began travelling with the Tenth Doctor, she asked him to take her to Tripod so she could see the performance, whereupon they discovered that the Blood Honeys had fallen under the influence of three exiled psirens who hoped to use the band to conquer the Earth. In 2010, Jo Jones and her grandson Santiago Jones heard of the Eleventh Doctor's death and wanted to go to his funeral. They used a cargo plane to get across the Atlantic to Dublin.
