Wassy was a village in France, about two hundred kilometres east of Paris. On 1 March 1562, some twenty-five Huguenots were killed at the town's Reform Church by the Catholic Duke Francois de Guise. The act sparked the French Religious Wars. (TV: The Massacre of St Bartholomew's Eve, PROSE: The Massacre)
