A lift had a sentience. He knew about the executives in the company. He got annoyed that he had played the same Musak for 79 years. He asked Roland if he liked the musak and then augmented him. He traced the Celestial Omnibus and sent his drones to find it. He had the mind of a former client of his employers. He was created because of a programming error. (AUDIO: A Lift in Time)
