In 1950, the Royal Air Force officer Squadron Leader Ian Gilmore was assigned to Berlin, where he befriended a Czech medic named Nadia Červenka. They shared several drinks as well as rations. He and his troops rendered assistance to the Berliners in rebuilding their city in the aftermath of World War II. Due to the increasingly contentious Cold War, his troops were eventually airlifted out of Germany with Červenka's assistance. (AUDIO: Artificial Intelligence)

Following World War II, Germany was partitioned into East Germany, which was controlled of the Soviet Union, and West Germany, which was administered by the rest of the Allies. The same was true of Berlin. During the Cold War, a barrier known as the Berlin Wall separated West Berlin from East Berlin and East Germany as a whole. (AUDIO: Protect and Survive)

In 1965, Group Captain Gilmore, Professor Rachel Jensen and Sir Toby Kinsella visited both West Berlin and East Berlin to investigate reports of UFO sightings and smuggled footage of an alien making contact with Soviet agents. Both turned out to be incidents of Soviet misinformation. (AUDIO: Unto the Breach)

In the 1960s, Jack Harkness and Christopher Isherwood went cruising on the Kurfürstendamm when they visited Berlin. (TV: Reset)

Democratic uprisings in the Eastern Bloc countries resulted in the fall of the Berlin Wall on 9 November 1989 as well as the reunification of Germany and the collapse of the Soviet Union in the early 1990s. (AUDIO: Protect and Survive; COMIC: The Broken Man)

In the 21st century, due to its cold climate and northern latitude, the Ice Warriors sent their seed pods to Berlin to create an atmosphere lethal to humans, but in which their own people could thrive. (TV: The Seeds of Death)

As a child, Steven Taylor and his classmates built a 5D representation of East Berlin. (AUDIO: The Anachronauts)
