Drake Ayelbourne was, at some point in the future, the richest man in the universe. He kept himself alive using elite time technology, and when the Ninth Doctor and Rose arrived at his monument, he captured Rose and intended to keep her as his own.
Drake was infatuated with Rose and remarked that she was beautiful and kissed her hand when introducing himself, he also told her that she had made him realise that he had been alone for too long.
He revealed that his monument was not a tribute to his ego, but to his deceased wife, Eleanora. But when the Doctor arrived to collect Rose and Rose refused to stay there with him, Drake reverted to his true form and blew up the building, killing himself in an attempt to ensure that no one else could have Rose.
