Loomstacks on Gallifrey Eight spewed out a thick black smoke that perpetually blocked the sun over the Capitol. They incinerated dead soldiers, broke their bodies into raw fabric, and then rewove them to create more troops for the war effort. (PROSE: The Taking of Planet 5)
