The Needle People were a group of humanoids who lived in the Librarinth of the Needle toward the very end of the universe.
They could only remember their futures, not their pasts, so they recorded all of their experiences in journals. Each individual had his own theory as to his past: Willhuff believed they were the Children of Kasterborous; Gordel believed they were the super-evolved survivors of the Thal race, fleeing the Final Dalek War; Helios supposed that they were from the "Accidentally Left Behind When Everyone Else Transcended This Reality Interest Group", though he later told the Doctor that he had memories of coming to the Needle to continue his father's business.
The Needle believed that God had created the Librarinth and that he was hidden behind one of its many doors; Helios, who alone retained some memories of his past, knew the location of the door, which the Doctor discovered was in reality an entrance to Omega's anti-matter universe.
