Jondar was a rebel prisoner on Varos. His torture was broadcast live to the public from the Punishment Dome, where he was chained. Moments before his execution, the TARDIS arrived in the Dome and he was rescued by the Sixth Doctor and Peri Brown. Jondar was reunited with his wife, Areta.
Later, after being captured by Quillam, the Doctor and Jondar were both sentenced to hanging while the Governor and Sil watched, but it was a trick to get the Doctor to talk. Jondar was instrumental in freeing Peri and Areta from the cellaros mutator. Jondar helped the Doctor put an end to Sil's plans to control Varos. (TV: Vengeance on Varos)
