  • Torchwood was involved in the cleaning up from C-Day in 1966.
  • The Law Machines were created as an automated police force to combat London's new crime rate, commissioned by Torchwood One at the behest of the mayor and the Crown.
  • WOTAN's basic programming survived, saved on magnetic tape from the 1960s. Over the years it was upgraded and backed up, from floppy discs up until the digital age, when it was saved on a hard drive at Canary Wharf.
  • The hard drive which stored WOTAN was thrown out by Torchwood; the program was recovered by Julian Delaware, who became WOTAN's first slave.
  • The Brett Archive contains leftover computers, programming and notes left over from Professor Brett, the creator of WOTAN.
  • WOTAN still believes it is meant to connect all the computers of the world; Julian explains to it that this is not necessary, since the internet already does this.
  • Yvonne calls WOTAN "Will" for short.
