Wilson was the chief electrician for Henrik's department store. Rose Tyler was to deliver the money he won in the lottery to him but she came under attack from the Autons and fled with the Doctor. The Doctor later told her Wilson was dead. (DW: Rose)
Technically he is the first person to die in the new series , although since he died off screen , this may not be made official
