Jack Watling (13 January 1923-22 May 2001[1]) played Professor Edward Travers in the Doctor Who television stories The Abominable Snowmen and The Web of Fear and the video Downtime. He was the father of Deborah and Giles Watling. Deborah appeared alongside her father in those three stories as Victoria Waterfield.

Watling was a familiar face in British television, appearing in episodes of The Adventures of Robin Hood, Danger Man, Ghost Squad, Boyd Q.C., No Hiding Place, Dixon of Dock Green, Emergency – Ward 10, Softly, Softly, Paul Temple, Jason King and Bergerac. He was also known for playing Arthur Bourne on The Cedar Tree, but will be best remembered for playing Don Henderson on The Plane Makers and its sequel, The Power Game.
