Their plan is thwarted, but only after [[10 Downing Street]] is destroyed by a Harpoon missile and all but one of the Earth's leading experts on aliens are killed. Backbencher MP [[Harriet Jones]], who assisted the Doctor and [[Rose Tyler | Rose]], is later elected Prime Minister.
