A fire chief spoke to Tom Streeter about the origin of the fire in his inn. When another fireman informed him of a rock they had found he discovered that it was solidified lava. The chief spoke to the police, who in turn spoke to the Home Office, who recruited the Third Doctor to investigate. (COMIC: Trial of Fire)
