Jillian Helright, usually known as Jill, was a powerful telepath who was taken to the Refuge on Iwa. There, she formed a close bond with the zookeeper Olmec. When she was aged 12, the facility was attacked by what her fellow humans termed "foxes", Olmec was severely injured, and Jill was placed in a dream chamber, where she created a dream world.
