Date unknown
- Botanist George Cranleigh is reported killed by hostile Indians while on an expedition in the Amazon. He has in fact been mutilated and had his tongue cut out, but is still alive. Returning to England, he is kept a prisoner by his mother in Cranleigh Hall. (DW: Black Orchid)
- A British archaeological survey of Rome, by Professor Livesy-Smythe, turns up a scroll by Caecilius detailing the true fate of Pompeii. The Torchwood Institute, which is monitoring the survey, is thus first alerted to the existence of the Pyroviles. (WEB: Captain Jack's Monster Files)
November
- 9 - The Doctor and Ace arrive in Munich, just as the Beer Hall Putsch is concluding, with Hitler and other members of the Kampfbund being driven away from the War Office by government soldiers. To Ace's surprise, the Doctor tells Hitler he mustn't give up and will one day rule Germany. Hastily explaining that his actions are necessary to insure that Earth history runs its proper course, the Doctor ushers Ace back to the TARDIS, where they are fired upon with an energy weapon, a sign that a non-contemporaneous person is manipulating the past. (NA: Timewyrm: Exodus)
