Robin Hood and the Eater of Worlds is based on Robin Hood; The Great Steam Time Machine is based on The Time Machine; Journey to the Centre of the Moon is based on Journey to the Centre of the Earth; The Crime of the Ancient Mariner is based on Rime of the Ancient Mariner; She-Who-Thinks-For-Herself is based on the works of H. Rider Haggard; Talented Witches is based on Wuthering Heights, Silver Selene is based on the works of Wilkie Collins;
- On the Resurrection Engines page on the Snowbooks website, the anthology is said to have sixteen stories, however there are only fifteen stories in the published book. The seemingly missing story was a reinterpretation of Alice in Wonderland by Lavie Tidhar.
