Colonel Oliver Crackenthorpe was an officer in the British Army who fought in the Crimean War. He was convinced to consign his wife, who had caused scandal, to an asylum in 1961 where she went mad.

Due to this, Queen Victoria made him sentinel of the sea fortress, tasked with watching over the creature. He remained untouched by time thanks to the creature's powers and, after sending it back to its own world to save the Queen and Maharaja Duleep Singh, he was given his freedom, choosing to go and see his wife. He was replaced by Mr Singh. (AUDIO: Fortitude)
