Colonel Oliver Crackenthorpe's wife was a wild woman who caused a scandal, leading to his friends to convince him to have her committed to an asylum in 1861. Whilst there, she went mad. Once news of this spread, Queen Victoria had him sent to the sea fortress. (AUDIO: Fortitude)
