Laydon was a member of the Anti-Antigravity Activists from Earth in the 453rd century, who was believed by the rulers of Sky City at first, to be a saboteur and so was hunted by the city's police force – the Cops. Laydon was actually an inventor and the AAA's activities were aimed at providing a more efficient and cheaper means of power for the city, in spite of the belief that the city's rulers wanted to maintain the high taxes they fixed.
