The Anglican Marines were members of The Church stationed at Demons Run.
Colonel Manton was the leader of the marines, acting on the orders of Madame Kovarian, who enlisted the help of the Headless Monks.
The marines were stationed at Demons Run to guard Amy Pond and her baby. At the Battle of Demons Run the marines fell for the Eleventh Doctor's trap, leaving themselves defenceless against a platton of Judoon and a battalion of Silurian warriors.
