Martin Clunes OBE (born 28 November 1961[1]) played Lon in the Doctor Who story Snakedance, which was his first major role on television.

He went on to star in several popular TV shows such as Men Behaving Badly and Doc Martin.

He was one of many names put forward for the part of the Eighth Doctor and was later considered for the Ninth Doctor.[2][3]
