The Bay of Bengal, also called Bengal Bay, (AUDIO: Storm Warning) was a body of water in the south of Asia.[1]
Geography
The Bay of Bengal was the name given to the gulf which extended from the west coast of Hindoostan, via the south-east coast of Burmah, to the east coast of Siam. The city of Madras was on the coast of Hindoostan, just west of the bay. The River Ganges flowed into the bay from the northern coast via a series of tributaries.
