"Battle of the Althos system" is a title based upon conjecture.

The Battle of Althos System was an engagement of the Last Great Time War that began when the Dalek Empire plotted to move into the uninhabited Althos System, seeking to mine its gas giants to create epoch bombs that could wipe Gallifrey from history. In response, Lord President Eternal Rassilon dispatched General Artarix and her fleet on a suicide mission to distract the Daleks, believing their sacrifice would allow the rest of the Time Lord fleet to surprise the Dalek force. Rassilon also struck a deal with the Nestene Consciousness to create a copy of the War Doctor to use his reputation amongst the Gallifreyan armed forces to his advantage, as he knew Artarix and the others would follow the Doctor into battle without question.

However, the real War Doctor learned of the plan and struck his own deal with the Nestene, granting him control over the original copy and a new copy, which he sent to debate Rassilon. Meanwhile, the Doctor snuck into the Panopticon and stole a cache of proximity mines. With these bombs, the Doctor destroyed the Dalek armada and the uninhabited star system. (PROSE: Decoy)
