Welcome to the Tardis:About Editoronthewiki

Thanks for your edits! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is a great time to have joined us, because now you can play the Game of Rassilon with us and win cool stuff! Well, okay, badges. That have no monetary value. And that largely only you can see. But still: they're cool!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a Wikia wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.
British English, please
We generally use British English round these parts, so if you're American, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.
Spoilers aren't cool
We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.
Other useful stuff
Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! —  you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:

Thanks for becoming a member of the TARDIS crew! If you have any questions, see the Help pages, add a question to one of the Forums or ask on my talk page. SOTO 12:23, August 21, 2020 (UTC)

Tip for linking to Reddit AMAs[[edit source]]

If you click on the little "1 day ago" button next to the username, Reddit will give you the URL of that specific comment, so you don't have to just link to the whole thread :) – N8 (/👁️) 18:04, October 18, 2020 (UTC)

Last Great Time Lord Victorious[[edit source]]

Hi Editoronthewiki, just wanted to say that you've done some real impressive work with Last Great Time War and other pages! Just wanted to send you a message saying that the Dalek storyline in Time Lord Victorious isn't an alternate timeline of Dalek history, and is in fact set before the Time War rather than instead of it. This is evidenced through the fact that the Daleks are aware of the changes in history and think of them as changes to history, positioning them as being in a similar position to the Eighth and Ninth Doctors. In fact, per the Dalek storyline, some of the final releases of TLV should probably be added to the Last Great Time War page in the Pre-War section. CoT ? 16:47, 10 December 2020 (UTC)

Restoration Empire placement[[edit source]]

That is more an issue with the standard page formatting of this Wiki, really. "Alternate timelines" are, at any rate, distinct from parallel universes, and are very much a part of the universe. If TLV wraps up with the time alterations "sticking", then yes, I think we should assume that the Restoration Empire is an alteration to Dalek history that sticks, and rejoins the standard timeline by way of the Restoration Daleks going into the Time War just as they were originally supposed to. But that doesn't mean they're not an "alternate timeline" — it's a little like, say, how the events of Last of the Time Lords do belong on the main biography section of The Master or Lucy Saxon even though they're unquestionably an alteration to Time.

I say wait and see if the "moving into the LGTW" thing is the last word from TLV. If it is, I would agree with putting "Kotturuh crisis timeline" back in the normal History section of Dalek, with the caveat that it contradicts pre-TLV accounts of Dalek history due to being the result of alterations to Time. Re:Infobox[[edit source]]

Hey, sorry for the (long-delayed) response; I had taken a break from editing. Anyways, regarding your question about the infobox, I'm not entirely sure. Most of my template-editing abilities are through the process of "copy, paste and adapt what's necessary", so "is adding a third column possible?" is a bit beyond my reaches (specially since Fandom has made a recent change in the codes, which has left a lot of coding behind the infoboxes/navboxes/tables a bit different, and I'm not sure how much it's still going to change in the recent future).

However, I can and will redirect your inquiry to User:SOTO, who I believe may be able to assist more (though note that they haven't edited in a week as well). Thanks for having brought the suggestion up, though. OncomingStorm12th 14:32, 16 June 2021 (UTC)

R.E.: Discord[[edit source]]

As you are probably aware, it does seem to be fixed now. Not sure why I'm sending this message here, but oh well. :)

Re: Copy pasting[[edit source]]

I believe I have appropriately modified and edited the content for the appropriate pages. MrThermomanPreacher 18:04, 4 October 2022 (UTC)

For(u)m Letter[[edit source]]

Hey there, I hope your Halloween was decent. As you might know, we've not had forums for over two years at this point. A few of the regular editors have been having a discussion on this topic at Forum talk:Index and we'd like the input of other prominent editors if you have the inclination. Cheers. Sandboxes[[edit source]]

Would you object to contributions to your sandboxes, in particular User:Editoronthewiki/Sandbox/Causes of the Last Great Time War and User:Editoronthewiki/Sandbox/Dalek Empire (post-Last Great Time War)? MrThermomanPreacher 16:18, 12 December 2022 (UTC)

Understood. I should have clarified I was offering to contribute. MrThermomanPreacher 16:41, 12 December 2022 (UTC)

Edit summaries[[edit source]]

Hi please review Tardis:Edit summary and you might as well review Tardis:Valid sources. We don't base validity on editors' wishes, and an edit summary is not the place to make such a request, and adding multiple extraneous letters in the edit summary can make the edit history difficult to read. Seasons Greetings[[edit source]]

Death Comes to Time[[edit source]]

While you can't see the most recent thread concerning DCtT, you might find some of the comments on User talk:Shambala108/Archive 15 interesting (Starting with "Hello!"). I don't think any of the threads in User:Najawin/Sandbox 5 would help the DCtT case, but it might be the case that simply revisiting the issue due to changing circumstances would work out. Najawin 04:30, 23 December 2022 (UTC)

One (newer) user suggested trying to validate it and Shalka based on Day of the Doctor. I'm not entirely sure how that would work, to say the least. Aside from that, JDPM mentions it for a categorization reason. I'd love for it to be valid, that last thread was... contentious. Najawin 04:49, 23 December 2022 (UTC)

RE: Barber-Surgeon[[edit source]]

Hi, sorry I only just spotted the notification about your message. I think you messaged whilst I was in process of reshuffling the Time War article a bit to put the events of War Doctor 4 after War Room 1 (cos of Leela's brief appearance). SherlockTheII 11:11, 5 January 2023 (UTC)

Wookiepedia question[[edit source]]

Hey, I know you do WP stuff, so I figured I'd ask you. Do you know of any real policy at Wookiepedia surrounding how navboxes work? I couldn't find anything when I looked. (If you need to know the context of my question, User:Najawin/Sandbox 1 contains all my thread proposals, including the navbox one.) Najawin 07:14, 26 February 2023 (UTC)

Sure, I saw the navboxes, but I didn't see any formal policy about when to use them. I assumed it was sort of case by case as a result. Najawin 18:42, 26 February 2023 (UTC)
