V48 was a Kaldor City Hospital Voc programmed in all areas of medicine. It was personal assistant to Liv Chenka after she began working at the hospital and helped her with Jasdar Crick's post-mortem. It later took photos of the body and recorded her memories for her interactive gravestone per Company policy.

V48 witnessed SV57 eavesdropping on Liv and Senior Surgeon Arak Varren and asked why. He later found Liv talking to SV57 and informed her that Varren wished for her to accompany him to the Kaldor City Company to tender his resignation. It visited Skellen to bring SV57 to his attention, concerned about its behaviour. (AUDIO: The Robots of Life)
