History

Origin

The First Great and Bountiful Human Empire was founded by the ongoing expansion of the "great diaspora" from Earth, in which humans took to outer space in their millions. Before the Empire, the human space colonies were engaged in a fierce and embittered conflict with the Daleks which was largely contained to the vulnerable, outlying planets, known as the "outer ring".

Human historians from the far future understood the Daleks' belief that by invading Earth during weak or tumultuous points in its timeline, they could disrupt its future. If they instigated catastrophic change, it would stunt the expansion of humanity and exterminate the human threat forever. With Earth's future history rewritten, the Daleks could avert their protracted war with the human colonies of the First Great and Bountiful Human Empire, essentially allowing the Daleks to win before the conflict ever began. One such incursion was the Time Paradox Incident, which was thwarted by the Third Doctor. Some historians suggested that, with the advent of time travel technology, the Daleks had in advance been able to foresee the First Great and Bountiful Human Empire swell to encompass innumerable worlds and, as a consequence, identified the human race as a grave threat to their dominance of the universe and their self-appointed superiority over all other life forms.
