- You may be looking for the Liz Shaw of the main universe.
Section Leader Elizabeth Shaw was a security officer under the command of Brigade Leader Lethbridge-Stewart at the Eastchester Scientific Labour Camp on a parallel Earth, carrying out Eric Stahlmann's project.
Biography
Like her counterpart, Elizabeth Shaw was born in Stoke-on-Trent and attended Cambridge University where she earned a doctorate in physics. (PROSE: Inferno)
Unlike her counterpart, instead of pursuing a purely academic career she chose to join the RSF, the armed branch of ExSec dedicated to countering unconventional and scientific threats.
Her favoured weapon was a .25 calibre Beretta 950B, a compact and easily concealed personal defence weapon which had also been used by Mark Forester on the Doctor's Earth to murder Arnold Farrow.
Section Leader Shaw captured the Third Doctor, who had just arrived from the Earth of his own universe and had mistaken her for his friend and colleague. Despite her absolute loyalty to her country's totalitarian government, she tried to save the Doctor from execution, even though she initially didn't believe his story of interdimensional travel and thought that he was a demonstrator from an outlawed liberal political group.
She assisted the Doctor in returning to his world by shooting the Brigade-Leader when he threatened to kill the Doctor unless he rescued himself, Shaw and Dr. Petra Williams, something the Doctor was unwilling to do since he believed that it would cause a dimensional paradox which would shatter the entire space-time continuum. She was last seen by the Doctor near to Williams and Greg Sutton as a wall of lava flowed toward the technical storage hut. (TV: Inferno)
Behind the scenes
- In the real world Section Leader was a political rank of the British Union of Fascists, roughly equivalent to lieutenant. The rank badge was a single gold bar on the epaulette, which is reflected in Shaw's epaulettes each having a single silver pip.
