The War King's Homeworld was presumed by The Book of the War to be the original Homeworld, although it admitted that this was "by no means certain".
Multiple accounts speculated that the reason The War King's Homeworld was not located at its original location was due to it being moved, to be replaced by a cloneworld ruled by the pior War Queen (PROSE: "The Homeworld, The Nine Homeworlds" [+]Part of The Book of the War, Loading...{"namedpart":"The Homeworld, The Nine Homeworlds","1":"The Book of the War (novel)"}, Crimes Against History (second edition) [+]Loading...{"var":"second edition","1":"Crimes Against History (short story)"}), although another account indicated this War Queen's rule continued into the War (Crimes Against History (first edition) [+]Loading...{"var":"first edition","1":"Crimes Against History (short story)"}. Indeed, one account indicated that Romana III ruled Gallifrey both immediately prior to (PROSE: The Shadows of Avalon [+]Loading...["The Shadows of Avalon (novel)"]), and during (PROSE: The Ancestor Cell [+]Loading...["The Ancestor Cell (novel)"]) the War, although a later source indicated that this homeworld was instead a "sheath echo".
Just before the War in Heaven began, the War King became the Head of the Presidency and then the first War King, a title which showed the changing attitude on the Homeworld, after a complicated ordeal, including leaving the Homeworld, becoming Magistrate to the Infinity Doctor, leaving the Homeworld again, being arrested, and a Closed Session of the ruling Houses (PROSE: "The War King, Closed Session" [+]Part of The Book of the War, Loading...{"namedpart":"The War King, Closed Session (of the ruling Houses)","1":"The Book of the War"}, The Infinity Doctors [+]Loading...["The Infinity Doctors (novel)"]).
