::: That’s the official synopsis that was in bold in the Doctor Who website. It’s quite plain that this is “The Doctor’s faithful metal friend”. Such as this K9 travelled with the Doctor. Regardless of how we cover this, messy entry, it’s o simple that it is the DWU K9 that travelled with the Doctor. Invalid[[edit source]]
Do people agree with is being labelled invalid? - Sir DENCH-and-PALMER ☎ 22:30, December 18, 2016 (UTC)
- I do. Stargazing Live is not a DW show. Shambala108 ☎ 00:34, December 19, 2016 (UTC)
- I agree with its invalidity. However if we consider it in a "Children in Need" sense (a story being broadcast during another show), then is it still invalid? - Sir DENCH-and-PALMER ☎ 07:37, December 19, 2016 (UTC)
- You know, I see this discussion never had a conclusion, and I'd very much like to see what part of Tardis:Valid sources rules out stories which happened to be released packaged inside a non-Doctor Who-branded show. As long as the story's officially released and makes sense on its own, why should we care in what context it was released?

- There's precedent for shorts released in the middle of non-narrative TV specials, but presented as stories of their own which can be watched for their own sakes, to be valid. And wouldn't a rule of this sort, if extended to non-TV media, rule out short stories printed in non-DW anthologies — i.e. Decalog 5: Wonders.
- It may, of course, be that K9's Question Time is invalid for other reasons, for all we know. Certainly, going by the title, it might well be fourth-wall-breaking in the mould of Search Out Space. But I'm puzzled by the suggestion that “it was broadcast inside a non-DW show” is enough to declare it invalid, especially with the Children in Need precedent cited earlier. --Scrooge MacDuck ☎ 17:21, May 31, 2019 (UTC)
Coverage[[edit source]]
Having located a full episode I began trying to cover this, but I'm honestly puzzled as to how. Okay I understand we just cover the bits from 14:47 onwards where K9 is introduced. I get that.
However this segment is ingrained into the Stargazing episode and the K9 segment is introduced by a live scene and is sandwiched by one. Let me explain. New segment where Dara O'Briain introduces K9. K9 filmed segment is shown where he asks a question. The guests then respond in the live scenes which is followed by a pre-filmed K9 answer. So the article now covers the live connecting segments of K9's Question Time as you need those scenes for the K9 bits to make sense.
You know how Keith Lemon is a fictional character, but is treated as a real person even on real world shows like idk The One Show. Point is that's what's happening here. K9 is treated as a real person who is a new member of the team at Stargazing Live. This is fiction in the sense K9 is treated as real, but it's also real world too. This is a proms segment type issue?
David Baddiel, in the live guest answer K9's question scene, makes reference to K9's theme from his own series (K9 and Company reference). This isn't scripted. He's talking about the actual show. Only Dara's auto cue lines are fiction. But then the fourth wall isn't broken as the words K9 and Company or Doctor Who are never spoken in the first part.
In fact Dara continues to treat K9 as a real person alluding to the fact that K9 is one of the few seventies BBC stars they could book as he hadn't been involved in illegal sexual activities. (I know). Again it's referring to Who, but also not really. This is such an unprecedented issue I don't know where to begin.
