Thanks for your edits! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is a great time to have joined us, because now you can play the Game of Rassilon with us and win cool stuff! Well, okay, badges. That have no monetary value. And that largely only you can see. But still: they're cool!
We've got a couple of important quirks for a Wikia wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.
British English, please
We generally use British English round these parts, so if you're American, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.
Spoilers aren't cool
We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.
Other useful stuff
Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:
- the listing of all our help, policy and guideline pages
- our Manual of Style
- our image use policy
- our user page policy
- a list of people whose job it is to help you
If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! — you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:
Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:Thanks for becoming a member of the TARDIS crew! If you have any questions, see the Help pages, add a question to one of the Forums or ask on my talk page. SOTO ☎ 17:32, October 10, 2019 (UTC)
Cyber-Lieutenant
Hey. Well, since Mondas isn't the only location where they come from, we can't leave it as just "Mondas", of course. But, as I mentioned, just putting "various" isn't informative to a reader. The general idea is that infoboxes is for more general, non-ambiguous information. As there might be too many origins, as you pointed out, the best course of action is probably to just leave the infobox with nothing in the "origins" section, and add the information in the page itself. Renaming page
Hey there. Hope you're well ^_^ I saw your recent edit desiring to rename Parallel dimension (Telepresence) so I added the {{Rename}}
template to hopefully spark discussion for it. Please feel free to add your reasons for the rename at the page's talk page. Be sure to sign your comments after writing. Good luck. Snivy ✦ The coolest Pokemon ever ✦ 19:57, June 4, 2020 (UTC)
Re: colony ship
Hi, a pipe switch is when you type [[banana|bananas]] instead of just typing [[banana]]s. Both methods show up as "bananas". We ask editors to not pipe-switch if it isn't necessary. You can find more details and a complete explanation at Thread:123048.
As for your edit, you can undo the reversion I did and just go through and correct the times you pipe-switched unnecessarily so you don't have to rewrite your entire edit(s). Thanks Shambala108 ☎ 02:38, August 28, 2020 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks for explaining. CyberFoundries900 ☎ 06:44, August 28, 2020 (UTC)
SotC reply
Main enemy is often singled out to the most antagonistic entity in a story or the one responsible for the conflict. The Cyber-Controller in SotC falls into the latter catagory, as he is the one behind the Cybermen's plot to trick Rassilon into giving the Cybermen time travel.BananaClownMan ☎ 12:43, September 27, 2020 (UTC)
Merry Christmas
Hello, there. I just wanted to stop by and wish you the merriest of Christmases, and a Happy New Year. BananaClownMan ☎ 14:14, 24 December 2020 (UTC)
Alternate Timelines reply
Apologies for the late reply. I've recently started a full-time job on the night shift, so my abilities to edit have been severely limited. Cutting to the chase, the only reason I changed the heading of "Alternate timeline" was because that was how it looked on the other Doctor's pages. I think it's because Alternate timelines deal with events that happen outside of time, which would explain while Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS is included in the main biography despite being erased; the Doctor still remembers the events as happening, as oppose to The Light at the End, where the Doctor's only feel some Déjà vu. Re: The Cyber Foundries
I'm honestly not sure. The way I saw it was — we are taking this to a proper name for this place in particular, not a general cyberconcept of "a cyber-foundry" in the same sense that there are cyber-ships and cyber-controllers and so on. So, the name has to use Foundries, not Foundry. But this looks to the untrained eye like a violation of the rule about page names having to be singular. Therefore including the "The" in the title makes it clear that this is a singular name called "the Cyber Foundries", not a page about the concept of cyber-foundries. This is all very esoteric, though, so if you still think the "The" is more confusing than not, feel free to suggest another rename. Scrooge MacDuck ☎ 12:53, 5 May 2021 (UTC)

Re: Dalek appearances
I'm not sure, actually. Davros (Palindrome) is a different person from Davros. But Daleks is about Daleks as a species, not about any specific group of them. Indeed, genetically different Daleks like humanised Daleks and Imperial Daleks count as appearances of "the Daleks". I think Dalek (Masters of War) should be viewed as a page about a (nameless) Dalek variant from a parallel universe, not as an alternative and equal to Dalek. Accordingly, parallel-universe Daleks belong on Daleks - list of appearances. But if we had e.g. a parallel universe Black Dalek Leader, that wouldn't belong on Black Dalek Leader - list of appearances. Scrooge MacDuck ☎ 18:45, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
Black Dalek in Vengeance
I seem to recall dialogue referring to the Dalek in Vengeance as "the", rather than "a", Black Dalek, which I assume was the root of my defaulting to the assumptiont hat they indeed meant the Black Dalek. It wouldn't be the first time the Black Dalek appeared to be destroyed while actually surviving through means unknown. I will however confess that my memory of that element of Vengeance is already getting spotty. Am I misremembering? Scrooge MacDuck ☎ 22:33, 25 June 2021 (UTC)
- I mean, if he's black with golden adornments, I think it is appropriate to call him a Black Dalek. Regardless: thank you for the in-depth answer! In hindsight I think the mentions of "the" (rather than "a") Dalek Supreme are what made me jump to the assumption that this was the BDL, combined with the mention of him as a Black Dalek. But you're probably right. Scrooge MacDuck ☎ 12:44, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
Affiliation of the Davros
Got it. The |affiliation= field is an autolinking one. Therefore, you were confusing it by introducing complex code into the field ({{cs|}} and so on). Check the source code of the page now to see how it's supposed to work. Note that you can currently only include a limited number of different affiliations. Scrooge MacDuck ☎ 16:17, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
- Probably. You can put up a request at Template_talk:Infobox Individual to add more affiliation "slots", if you like. Scrooge MacDuck ☎ 16:46, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
Davros: Infobox Questions, 2021 A.D.
I don't think so, no. The field is very much for the in-universe name of the individual, where available; not a description of them. Scrooge MacDuck ☎ 16:54, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
- Yeah. You can say 'Alliance Daleks' or 'Unbound Master' or what-have-you if that's an actual moniker we're using in text, but parentheticals don't belong. Scrooge MacDuck ☎ 17:18, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
Re: Status Update
Yes, I do believe that's the right license! Concerning linking to the category: to add an inline link to a category, you need to use the prefix [[:Category: instead of [[Category: — like so: Category:Status Update short story images. Scrooge MacDuck ⊕ 21:33, 20 February 2022 (UTC)
Parallel universes in infoboxes
Thanks for checking in. I see where you're coming from, but I don't think your proposal is viable. We actually couldn't format the Unbound Davros's species as "Kaled (Unbound Universe)" even if we wanted to, because the |species= field, unlike the |origin= field, is autolinking! Thus, we couldn't standardise a parenthetical format for all fields. For the origin field specifically, though, what you could do is give his origin as "Skaro, Unbound Universe" (note comma instead of parentheses), in the same way as one might give a character's address as "London, England". I think that would be closer to precedent, and already alleviate some of the potential confusion. Scrooge MacDuck ⊕ 22:24, 25 March 2022 (UTC)
- Well, my point was that due to the auto-linking thing, as I said there's no good way to make the dab visible in any other sections than "origin". Scrooge MacDuck ⊕ 16:30, 3 April 2022 (UTC)
For(u)m Letter
Hey there, I hope your Halloween was decent. As you might know, we've not had forums for over two years at this point. A few of the regular editors have been having a discussion on this topic at Forum talk:Index and we'd like the input of other prominent editors if you have the inclination. Cheers. Re: Doctor of War editing
Hiya @Thalek Prime Overseer, thanks for reaching out to me. I must explain though that I am not an admin and thus can't help you as you requested of me; I would like to point you in the direction of Tardis:Administrators for a list of who is an admin. Perhaps if you left a message at @Scrooge MacDuck's talk page, he may be able to help resolve the talk page.
Out of curiousity though, what in particular lead you to think I am an admin? I want to try to prevent any similar confusion from happening again in the future.
