Unbound Universe
The Unbound Universe (WC: A Visit from Prof. Summerfield, PROSE: Legacy Presence) was a parallel universe where the Doctor was exiled not to England in the 1980s, but to Hong Kong in 1997. (AUDIO: Sympathy for the Devil) This one difference led to a universe radically different to the prime one, so much so that its Doctor once expressed the opinion that his home reality was "wrong". Following a cataclysmic war, this universe was reduced to a shadow of its former self. With all his people dead, the Doctor was its ruler. (AUDIO: The Library in the Body)

Pre-War[[edit] | edit source]
On one planet, a great ruler decreed that "no one need ever truly die"; he gave his people the ability to "renew their bodies and their minds". If they grew tired of life, their "spirits" could "wander in the Garden of Souls". They became the rulers of time and space. All races in the universe knew of them and feared them. (AUDIO: The Library in the Body) It was from these people - the Time Lords - that the Doctor sprang. He left Gallifrey and became a renegade, as did his old school friend the Master. (AUDIO: Sympathy for the Devil)
Skaro, home to the Thals and Kaleds, was targeted by the extra-dimensional Quatch. The Thals, then the dominant power on Skaro, forced the Kaleds to fight with them against the Quatch, who appeared invisible to the defenders. Kaled scientist Davros was crippled during this conflict. The Quatch were defeated so formented a conflict between the Thals and Kaleds to weaken Skaro whilst they focused on other systems in their control. As a result of this war, Davros created the Daleks. His initial Daleks lacked pity and turned against him, leaving Skaro to pursue their own conquests as a renegade faction. Whilst his second batch with pity remained loyal, Davros grew disappointed with them. Davros was persuaded to join the Quatch as their chief technician, unaware of their involvement in the war that had crippled him. The loyalist Daleks would subsequently depart Skaro in search of Davros.
The renegade Daleks had many encounters with the Doctor. At one point they threatened to destroy all life on Skaro save themselves, but were thwarted by the Doctor who led the Thals against them in the Great Siege. (AUDIO: Masters of War)
On Earth, Professor X became a popular series. During a visit to Earth, the Doctor's TARDIS became stuck in the form of an Earth police box. At one point, the Doctor met Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart and helped prevent the Great Intelligence from invading London with an army of Robot Yeti. Alistair became the Brigadier of UNIT, facing numerous alien attacks including the "Plastic Purges", lizards (which required the sacrifice of Mike Yates to stop) and the Ambassadors, who left a string of craters along North America. The Brigadier took drastic actions against these attacks, including bombing Surrey. (AUDIO: Sympathy for the Devil) In 1972, UNIT encountered the renegade Daleks. Three Daleks were able to kill 47 men. (AUDIO: Masters of War) Due to UNIT’s many disastrous failures, Alistair was regarded as a dangerous crackpot and ultimately driven out from UNIT. He eventually moved to Hong Kong and opened a bar, The Little England. The Master arrived on Earth in the 1970s and became trapped there, separated from his TARDIS. First he worked for the United Nations however defected to China after being sent to investigate brain parasites there. He used the parasites to create the Ke Le Divisions. After being put on trial by the Time Lords, the Doctor was exiled to Earth, arriving in Hong Kong on eve of its handover to China in 1997, with his TARDIS fitted with an inhibitor. At the same time, the Master attempted to defect from China as he'd lost favour with the government, travelling to Hong Kong to obtain the last parasite to control the Ke Le Divisions as the Chinese government was planning to destroy the rest. The Doctor reunited with Alistair and encountered the Master, stopping him from obtaining the last parasite. They left the parasite at the same site the Chinese government were bombing the rest and the Doctor used that explosion to disable the inhibitor and escape Earth. The Master was left trapped in Hong Kong as the Ke Le Divisions sent to assert Chinese control of the city went mad. (AUDIO: Sympathy for the Devil)
After many travels across time and space, the Doctor and Alistair arrived on Skaro where they found the Thals under Dalek occupation. The Doctor first attempted to overthrow the Daleks, but learnt they were actually the loyalist faction and had returned to protect the Thals from a coming attack by the Quatch. He and Alistair got the Thals and Daleks to work together against the Quatch and discovered Davros was working with the Quatch. The Doctor revealed the Quatch’s role in the war that crippled Davros, causing him to turn on the Quatch and send them back to their own dimension. Alistair chose to stay on Skaro to help the fledgling peace between the Daleks and Thals. (AUDIO: Masters of War)

Eventually a Great War broke out across time and space, though ultimately by the end no-one could remember what it was about. (AUDIO: The Library in the Body) The people of Tramatz were a key player on one side of the War. (AUDIO: The Very Dark Thing) When the war was at its worst, the Kareem were formed. (AUDIO: The Library in the Body)
Though he claimed to have stayed away, the Doctor was a participant in the War, known as the "Cautious Warrior". (AUDIO: The Library in the Body) He tried to help the Time Lords, but found they wouldn’t listen to his advice. (AUDIO: Asking for a Friend) He worked with the Master however abandoned him after deeming his plan too insane. (AUDIO: The Emporium At The End)
The War "broke" the universe, (AUDIO: The Library in the Body) though the Doctor was able to buy it a few hundred years in a deal involving sacrificing some of his memories. (AUDIO: The Emporium at the End)
Post-War[[edit] | edit source]
In the aftermath of the War, the universe itself was dying. With the rest of his people presumed dead, the Doctor was left as ruler of the universe. He tried to abandon his duties, as many of the inhabitants of the universe viewed him with contempt, and attempted to flee the universe itself via the Gateway. His attempt to use Bernice Summerfield as an anchor to reach her universe failed, resulting in her coming back to his universe with him. They began travelling together in the broken universe. After stopping the Master's scheme to escape the universe at cost of hundreds of refugees at the Emporium, (AUDIO: The Emporium at the End) the Doctor was forced to accept his responsibilities. He adopted the title President of the Universe (AUDIO: The City and the Clock) and built a political system, including a Parliament, based in the remains of the Emporium at the Gateway. (AUDIO: The True Saviour of the Universe) Meanwhile Benny continued solo adventures across the universe, (PROSE: True Stories, Legacy Presence, The Death of Hope, AUDIO: Wise Women) and the Doctor eventually sent her to excavate the legendary Apocalypse Clock on Merin. To his surprise, she actually found it and he realised it could be used to create a safe zone from the universe's coming collapse. (AUDIO: The City and the Clock)
The Doctor organised the relocation of civilisations into the safe zone, having to negotiate with dictators to his frustration, whilst also working on the Clock. This took its toll on his mental health, so eventually Benny forced him to go to therapy. (AUDIO: Asking for a Friend) The Doctor devised a grand plan to forfeit the presidency and return Benny home, whilst also ensuring the universe had a future. (AUDIO: The True Saviour of the Universe) He absconded from his duties, claiming to be in search of an adventure, forcing Benny to track him down. Upon his return the Parliament began impeachment (AUDIO: Truant) as he’d planned. Appearing before the Parliament he antagonised them and revealed he could activate the Clock, but wouldn’t due to being afraid of what a sudden release of energy could trigger. The Master arrived and revealed he would happily do so, and was subsequently inaugurated by the Parliament. The Doctor reconfigured his TARDIS so when the Master activated the Clock it latched onto the energy, preventing the awakening of the Great Old Ones. He used the energy to travel with Benny to her universe, confident that the safe zone was secure and the Master would prove a good leader, now he was without the Old Ones’ power and constrained by the Parliament. During the Master's reign, this universe was threatened by an entropy wave that had been unleashed in N-Space. The Master travelled to N-Space but was unable to stop the wave and retreated to this universe whilst he still could. The timeline in which the entropy wave had been released was eventually negated by a paradox. (AUDIO: Masterful)

After the final end of the universe, the Master was the only thing left alive in the universe. He survived in a shielded bubble, sending a signal across the multiverse in hopes of rescue. After ten thousand years of waiting, he was finally rescued by the Dalek Time Strategist who brought him to N-Space to help stop his counterpart's subversion of Dalek history. (AUDIO: Shockwave)
