Vanella was the wife of George, one of the Resting Ones at Tranquil Repose who had been placed into suspended animation after succumbing to Beck's Syndrome. Before his death, George had entrusted Vanella with a substantial research fund which was to be used to eventually find a cure for the condition.
After George's death, the DJ, who entertained the resting ones, would give George messages from Vanella, who stated that she missed him dearly and that her every waking hour was spent administering the research fund. However, the DJ would also privately wonder what Vanella was really doing with the money, as in actuality, a cure for Beck's Syndrome had been discovered forty years prior.
