Preface was the first story in the anthology Wildthyme on Top. It was written by Paul Magrs.
Summary
Iris Wildthyme: an enigma wrapped in a mystery; Tom: her best friend; together, on her bus, travelling through the Multiverse. Where will they go next?

Worldbuilding
- Iris wears a tigerskin coat, and a tasteless, shapeless hat.
- Tom likes loose fitting jeans.
- Iris and Tom enjoy Black Sobranies and Bombay Sapphire.
- Tom is around twenty-three years old, and Iris' age about is about forty times that.
- Iris and Tom share similar tastes in music, enjoying the works of Cilla Black, Dusty Springfield, Scott Walker, and the Stones.
Notes
- While this served as a preface to the Wildthyme on Top, it was primarily a DWU narrative in its own right.
Continuity
- Tom had mistakenly thought that Iris' bus was a real bus when he was in Putney Common. (PROSE: Verdigris)
