Support was the third feature released on the GEOCOMTEX website on 30 April 2005[1] by the BBC webteam to coincide with the broadcast of Dalek. The feature was framed as the in-universe support page for the Geocomtex website.

The page was given an overhaul at some point between 15 June 2006[2] and 1 July 2006,[3] complete with a new logo and illustration.

Summary

You are presented with the support & FAQS page of the Geocomtex website.

The introduction of the page suggests that, if you "grabbed something" from them, and have a problem, you can call them on their toll free number. Otherwise, they list off some technical worries that their "bright boys" are solving at the moment.

Some customers claim that they got a brand new RH-390 S12, but the pins aren't correctly set. Geocomtex respond, saying that there was a transposition when the manual was printed, and provide the correct sequence.

Some customers claim that their Strand-390 Player isn't reading from left to right. Geocomtex respond they they should try adjusting the back key setting from [0] to [3] before replacing, but to make sure to earth themselves.

Some customers claim that they've given their parents a TVR-312 and they can't get to grips with the multi-region coding. Geocomtex claim that this is a common query, but proceed to advise them to tap in the code "[SETUP] [SETUP], "Menu", then "384.5544308664".

Some customers claim that the pump on the back of their Flange Differentials aren't working. Geocomtex respond that it should be refilling automatically, and that need to change the filter. They then go on to advise the customers to go outside and enjoy the summery evening.

Some customers claim that they keep trying to install RealPlayer on their new 412 Minis. Geocomtex simply respond with "good for you", and tell them to keep trying, as it "may even work one day!".

Some customers claim that the Mimsy's gone on their Borogroves. Geocomtex respond that this is because the Momeraths are Outgrabe, and suggest that they contact their dealers.

Some costumers ask if Geocomtex have seen the muffin man. They simply respond "No. Have you?".

Some customers ask if it's true that their boss is "a complete nut". Geocomtex respond that Mr VanStatten is "certainly creative and individual, and believes in a strong work ethix", before going on to mention that he replaces his publicist once a month.

Some customers claim that their Tubbs' doesn't work like it used to, and ask how to reset it. Geocomtex respond by advising that they enter the code 12-T.

Some customers ask if they need a MX-TBL plug-in for the WTFLD Generator. Geocomtex respond that they only need to do so if they're planning on feeding the flying pests.

Some customers claim that they're trying to get their Discotron-3s to flash in the sequence MED BIL EOTV. Geocomtex respond that it doesn't flash in that sequence, and apologise.

Some customers claim that their stabilisers aren't responding. Geocomtex respond by advising that they use the Finklegruber supplied.

Notes

  1. The first version of the website would exist by 2006, going off the short story Henry Van Statten and the stories set afterwards. The redesign either happened pre-The Runaway Bride before being reverted to the original desgin before that story's date of Christmas Eve 2007 or after that date and was reverted sometime prior to Dalek's date of 2012.
