The Terrestrial Index was a Doctor Who reference guide published by Jean-Marc Lofficier which, among other features, includes a speculative history of the planet Earth in the Doctor Who Universe.
Publisher's summary
This companion volume to THE PROGRAMME GUIDE contains everything there is to know about Doctor Who and the planet Earth.
The information is divided into three main sections. The first contains a Who's Who of the actors, technicians and writers connected with the Doctor Who television stories. The second contains brief details of all the Doctor Who adventures other than those shown on television — the stories from the stage plays, the radio programmes, and the comic strips. The third is a chronology of Earth history as revealed in the Doctor Who television stories.
THE TERRESTRIAL INDEX is packed with information for Doctor Who fans, and is an indispensable companion to The Programme Guide.
The third volume of Jean-Marc Lofficier's Doctor Who reference trilogy will be entitled THE UNIVERSAL DATABANK.
Subject matter
Detailed information on Doctor Who TV stories ranging from 1963 to 1989, a history of Earth in the Whoniverse and a listing of Doctor Who Universe stories in prose, comics and audio form produced throughout that time and up to 1990.

- History of Mankind according to Doctor Who; a full history of humanity using the TV stories as a historical timeline. The final sentence deals with Refusis as seen in DW: The Ark.
- Who's Who in Doctor Who, broken into; The Actors, The Creative Team, Key Technical Personnel and The Novelization Writers.
- Which Who is what, a list with around a paragraph each describing the various spin-off and extra elements produced in addition to the TV stories.
- Within this is a list of all the Short Stories and Comic Strips produced up until around this book was published.

- This is the second book of three reference books by Jean-Marc Lofficier, with The Doctor Who Programme Guide being the first and The Universal Databank the third.
- Aside from the cover and the inner cover page which have a Target Books logo, it was published by Doctor Who Books, an imprint of Virgin Publishing Ltd.
