Meet the Thirteenth Doctor was a promotional mini-episode released in 2017. It was made to announce the casting of Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor, and was broadcast on BBC One almost immediately after the conclusion of the Wimbledon Men's Final. It followed the revelation that Peter Capaldi was stepping down from the role, which was made public in January of that year.
Prior to the announcement, a promotional teaser was released on 14 July 2017. This teaser consisted of the number 13 being written in many different places around the world, and stated that the announcement would be made that weekend.[1]

Notes
- Jamie Childs later directed Whittaker's series eleven debut, The Woman Who Fell to Earth.
- The TARDIS exterior depicted is a PNG of the 2005-10 prop.
- Ironically, while the mini-episode features the TARDIS key materialising in the Doctor's hand near the end, it never appears in the Thirteenth Doctor's main tenure.
