Note that, while some were indeed released after the episode in question, for the most part they were released some time shortly prior to their TV stories, so the term ‘prequel’ is technically misnomer, since a ‘prequel’ is by definition set before but released after the production in relation. However, the term is used here as it is the [[BBC]]’s only official title on offer for this specific series.

This article needs a big cleanup.

Need to decide if this page is for the specific Moffat-era BBC things dubbed prequels, for any short subject of this type regardless of whether it's BBC, or for any BBC short designed as an intro to a Who episode. The lead seems to go with Option #1, but then Ian Chesteron: An Introduction is listed?…

These problems might be so great that the article's factual accuracy has been compromised. Talk about it here or check the revision history or Manual of Style for more information.

The "prequels" are a series of prologues to certain episodes of Doctor Who from series 6, 7 and 9, and around the 50th anniversary special. They were released by the BBC on their official site. They can be compared to the Tardisodes produced for series 2. Note that, while some were indeed released after the episode in question, for the most part they were released some time shortly prior to their TV stories, so the term ‘prequel’ is technically misnomer, since a ‘prequel’ is by definition set before but released after the production in relation. However, the term is used here as it is the BBC’s only official title on offer for this specific series.
