Bedlam Royal Hospital was a madhouse where William Shakespeare was put after the grief he experienced after the death of his son drove him temporarily insane. With the Doctor and Martha Jones, he went there to speak with Peter Streete. (DW: The Shakespeare Code)
In Doctor Who episode Ghost Light the Doctor refers to the house as Bedlam.
